Premature puberty Puberty that begins before the normally appointed time and is completed by nine years of age or earlier in girls, and eleven or earlier in boys. It may be an error of timing only, or may be associated with a brain lesion that affects the biological clock of puberty in the brain.
Premature rupture of the membranes Rupture of the amniotic sac before labor begins, as early as several months before the baby is due. If PROM occurs at 37 weeks or later, most physicians will induce; if it occurs before, a woman may be put on bedrest and carefully monitored.
Premature Ventricular Contractions (PVCs) An irregular heartbeat in which the lower chambers of the heart (the ventricles) beat before they are supposed to.
Premenstrual syndrome PMS. Headache, irritability, edema (swelling), abdominal discomfort, pelvic pain and nausea in the days before the start of the menstrual periods of some women.
