Ischaemia

   Reduction of blood supply - to brain, heart or other cells.

Blood
The life-maintaining fluid which is made up of plasma, red blood cells (erythrocytes), white blood cells (leukocytes), and platelets; blood circulates through the body's heart, arteries, veins, and capillaries; it carries away waste matter and carbon dioxide, and brings nourishment, electrolytes, hormones, vitamins, antibodies, heat, and oxygen to the tissues.

Brain
"That part of the central nervous system that is located within the cranium (skull). The brain functions as the primary receiver, organizer and distributor of information for the body. It has two (right and left) halves called ""hemispheres."" "

Heart
The hollow, muscular organ responsible for pumping blood through the circulatory system.

Ischaemic stroke
A stroke caused by a cerebral infarct, classified by arterial distribution: total anterior circulation infarct (TACI), partial anterior circulation infarct (PACI), posterior circulation infarct (POCI) and lacunar infarct (LACI).

Ischemia
Decreased flow of oxygenated blood to an organ due to obstruction in an artery.

Ischemic colitis
Decreased blood flow to the colon, which causes fever, pain, and bloody diarrhea.

Ischemic heart disease
Coronary artery disease or coronary heart disease caused by narrowing of the coronary arteries and decreased blood flow to the heart.

Ischemic Ulcers
Non-healing ulcers on feet or hands, usually quite painful. Often blood flow needs to be increased before the ulcer will heal.

Ischaemic stroke

Imaging tests
Takes pictures of the lungs and can detect problems such as a mass, an infection, air in the pleural space. Visual imaging tests include; chest x-rays, CTs (computed tomography).

Immunohistochemical staining
A laboratory process of detecting an organism in tissues with antibodies. These antibodies are labeled with a compound that is seen as a colored deposit when viewed microscopically. In general, mesotheliomas require immunohistochemical confirmation before legal measures are initiated.

Intrapleurally
Inserting chemotherapy drugs directly into the chest cavity.

Intraperitoneally
Inserting chemotherapy drugs directly into the abdominal cavity. Intraoperative photodynamic therapy is a new treatment that uses special drugs and light to kill cancer cells. Its use in the early states of mesothelioma in the chest is being studied. Judgement - an official court order deciding the rights or claims of the parties in a legal proceeding.
