Cyproterone acetate Cyproterone acetate is a progestin that also blocks the effect of androgens on the skin. It is very useful for the treatment of hirsutism. A rare side effect is liver problems. Cyproterone acetate is available in oral contraceptive pills (Diane® and Dianette®) and a brand name is Androcur®.
