Conceptivity

    The proclivity for the physiology and behavior of a male and female to conceive, maintain pregnancy, and progress through parturition, lactation, and the childcare of parenthood

Physiology
The branch of medicine that deals with the function of the various parts of the living organism.

Female
The traditional definition of female was "an individual of the sex that bears young" or "that produces ova or eggs". However, things are not so simple today. Female can be defined by physical appearance, by chromosome constitution (see Female chromosome complement), or by gender identification. Female chromosome complement: The large majority of females have a 46, XX chromosome complement (46 chromosomes including two X chromosomes). A minority of females have other chromosome constitutions such as 45,X (45 chromosomes including only one X chromosome) and 47,XXX (47 chromosomes including three X chromosomes).

Lactation
The secretion of milk from the breasts; the period of suckling the young until weaning.

Concordance

Concordant
1. Showing concordance, complete agreement. A couple may be concordant for a sexually transmitted infection, with both partners having it. 2. In transplantation genetics, between closely related species. A concordant xenograft is a transplant between members of closely related species.

Concordant couple
A pair of long-term sexual partners in which both partners have a sexually transmitted infection. The CDC has guidelines for counseling concordant couples in which both the man and woman are HIV-infected.

Concrete thinking
Thinking characterized by immediate experience, rather than abstractions. It may occur as a primary, developmental defect, or it may develop secondary to organic brain disease or schizophrenia.

Concussion
Any alteration in cerebral function caused by direct or indirect (rotation) force transmitted to the head resulting in one or more of the following: a brief loss of consciousness, lightheadedness, vertigo, cognitive and memory dysfunction, tinnitus, difficulty concentrating, amnesia, headache, balance disorder, nausea or vomiting.

Concussion of the brain
A traumatic injury to the brain as a result of a violent blow, shaking, or spinning. A brain concussion can cause immediate and usually temporary impairment of brain function such as of thinking, vision, equilibrium and consciousness.

Clitoris
The small, hooded organ (the clitoral glans) at the top of the cleft of the female vulva, which is the counterpart of the penis in the male [from Greek, kleitoris, clitoris]. Usually only the glans of the clitoris is externally visible. In the human female the body of the clitoris extends internally on either side of the vulva and vestibule. In total the clitoris is about 80 percent the size of the male penis.

Clitoromegaly
Extreme enlargement or hypertrophy of the clitoris.

Coital aninsertia
Inability in the female to have the penis inserted into the vagina, or in the male to insert the penis. It may be associated with neglect or denial of one's own penis or vagina (as in many unoperated transsexuals) or, more commonly, with phobic anxiety or panic and avoidance of penetration of one's own vagina, or of inserting one's own penis.

Coitus
The sexual act, specifically the taking of the penis into the vagina, or the penetrating of the vagina with the penis; but more generally the complete interaction between two sexual partners.

Compulsive cruising
Constantly reiterated searching, which is never satisfied, for an idealized sexual partner or sexual experience.

Conceptivity

A bruise; an injury of soft tissues without breaking the overlying skin.

Chlamydia
Chlamydia trachomatis is a common sexually transmitted disease, which often has no visible symptoms. If untreated, chlamydia can make a woman infertile or be passed to a baby during childbirth, causing pneumonia, eye infections and, in severe cases, blindness. Chlamydia is not routinely tested for but can be treated with antibiotics.

CA-125 test
A protein that can be found in the blood and is useful in detecting and evaluating ovarian cancer.

CT scan (computer tomography)
A diagnostic test which uses x-rays and a computer to view organs and areas inside the body.

CEA
A protein that can be found in the blood and is useful in detecting and evaluating colon cancer. Chemosensitizers - Drugs or chemicals that enhance the effects of anticancer drugs and improve their efficiency
